Frenetic Naked Energy
Heyo!
So, first blog post. I've been thinking about what I want to talk about, because you never get another first blog post. I have decided to talk a little bit about beginnings.
NTC's (very) beginnings probably began two summers ago. I had an itch to create, because I wasn't really up to much. I had a grand scheme of doing a 24-hour theatre project. I tried wrangling several friends and acquaintances into this. It never really amounted to much. I was too busy with life, and got a bit bogged down in details, but something about the idea piqued my interest: Along the way, a social media-savvy friend of mine really got me thinking and brainstorming about how to make the creative process accessible. I had also started reading some blogs, and I started thinking about how a theatre company could become financially sustainable. It seemed to me that, more often than not, theatres were constantly struggling financially--was there a different way of doing things that might make things easier?
Anywho, I eventually started talking to my husband, Jared, and my friend, Cory, about some of these ideas, and they also had some really interesting ideas for a theatre company. Jared came up with the name, Naked Theatre Company. I fought him pretty hard on it, but in the end, he was right (It got your attention, didn't it?). Cory brought a lot of ideas to the table from the online gaming world and generally being a technophile. Eventually, in the summer of 2012, we all 'officially' met to begin plans for Naked Theatre Company.
Since then, we've all been hustling to plan the company's structure and the first show. I am pretty damn proud of what we've come up with, and I hope all these crazy-ass ideas of ours can and will come to fruition.
Cory, I promise next time I will do a v-blog. I am old-school.
Love and nudity, Rachael
